Scores of youngsters are expected to have a hopping-good time getting their photos taken with the Easter Bunny today at the Broadway Market.

This season’s answer to Santa Claus is due to arrive at about 10 a.m. to help kick off the market’s prelude to an Easter roster of activities scheduled through April 23. The market will, of course, be closed April 24, Easter Sunday. The lead-up to the holiday will also feature extended hours at the market — posted at www.broadwaymarket.org.

“We’re excited,” said Brandye Merriweather, interim manager of the Broadway Market.

“We have a lot of stuff lined up. We’ve worked very, very hard to make this a success. So we hope people will come out. This is the time to be at the market,” Merriweather added.

Officials at the iconic East Side facility Friday held a news conference attended by Mayor Byron W. Brown, Fillmore District Council Member David A. Franczyk and other community and religious leaders.
